The Sixth Annual Bell Buckle Music Cruise, hosted by bluegrass musicians Valerie Smith and Liberty Pike, will embark from Tampa, Florida on a six-day bluegrass cruise. The event is presented by the Bell Buckle Café and Bell Buckle Records, both based (surprisingly) in Bell Buckle, Tenn.
The cruise will feature:
-
More than 20 hours of live performances.
-
A bluegrass Idol talent competition.
-
Bluegrass workshops and seminars.
- Informal jamming with the stars.
Of course, what would a bluegrass event be without 24 hour room service, a casino, a health spa and plenty of activities to keep the youngsters satisfied.
The event seems to be tailored to the older bluegrass crowd (not sure if there is a different one) and the bill lacks well known bluegrass acts, for the exception of the event’s special guest – Grand Ole Opry Star and Country Music Hall of Fame member Charlie Louvin.
Either way, it’s a cruise … with bluegrass music … How could it get any better (besides adding the Del McCoury Band)?
